I LOve coffee all day, soaking my feet in a salt bath at night,
and sunny Mondays.
I'm never gonna retire
(Do you see the root word there? It's TIRED!).
I'd rather live my life making muscles,
meaning, books, and clay jewelry.
I write in my journal every morning at 6:30.
I pray everyday when I hit a pocket of quiet.
I'm grateful I've survived the disastrous days of my life, because they've shown me what I want.
And I appreciate all my triumphs because they've helped me trust myself.
I am a warrior.
I bet you are, too.
More about Michelle Bernard, MS Ed
I've been a certified fitness trainer for over 20 years.
In 2003, I took a four-year hiatus from training bodies in the fitness world of NYC to accept a teaching fellowship and earn a Master's degree in Special Education, with a focus on communication and differentiating instruction.
I taught children with various special needs in the New York City public school system, which in itself was one of the most challenging things I've ever done. I was given the opportunity to develop a yogic-inspired Conflict-Resolution curriculum for elementary and middle school students which informed the format for the ❣ Theatre Arts Program I created later for high school students in the South Bronx.
I infused all my instruction with yoga, self-empowerment exercises, and self and social observation practices.
I created a Theatre Arts program that helped students express their true voices and feelings and learn in ways that wouldn't presuppose they had some sort of disability.
It improved their social and environmental relationships and their self-concept.
Helping at-risk teens process their inner and outer lives in constructive ways
through poetry, drama, visual art, drumming, singing, dance,
and yoga meditation,
broadened my own awareness of
just how powerful and purposeful
it is for EVERYONE
to have ways to process, nurture, and make
a conscious connection to our Selves.
I currently offer personal training, group aerobic and fitness instruction,
and yoga and visualization practices in-person at various health clubs,
senior centers, privately in NYC, and online
as far as the web can reach.
I'm also an accountability coach
I use the holistic approach with all my
ways of teaching and training.
